May the 4thbe with you. We can’t let this day pass without writing about Star Wars.
Let me preface this blog by saying, had I taken on this challenge more than two weeks ago, the entirety of my post would have been, “I have never seen a Star Wars movie – besides Rogue One.”
Well Mike Veit (and all of the rest of you who have been frustrated by this), I have begun the journey into a galaxy far, far away.
I am proud to report that I have recently completed watching A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back.
Andddd boy let me tell you. I am on the edge of my seat with anticipation.
From the perspective of someone who has not seen the entirety of the story, I’ll share a few thoughts running through my head.
Luke, I am your father.
- I simply don’t believe it. We are talking GAME CHANGER. How can someone who represents all that is good turn to the dark side of the force? What will Luke do? He has spent the entirety of his life wanting to know his father and now he has the opportunity to not only know him, but also learn from him.
- Princess Leia starts out with these fabulous iconic cinnamon buns of a hair-do and then poof we move into The Empire Strikes Backand they disappear. What’s up with that? I’ve barely adjusted to her kissing Hans and now I don’t even have her hair to rely on? I sure hope they bring the buns back.
- As I am sure all of you know, Luke failed to complete his training with Yoda per Obi-Wan Kenobi’s guidance. He succumbed to the dark side’s manipulation thus resulting in him not being the strong Jedi he is destined to be. Does Luke return to complete his training? Or will he find a new ‘Yoda’in his newfound father Darth Vader?
- I’d like to note that an entire planet was destroyed – the home planet of Princess Leia – and yet we continue on as if nothing has happened…it barely evoked an emotion from the princess. Is this normal? Do I need to emotionally prepare for more of these sort of extreme me emotional events?
I am honestly excited to finish watching the series – in order, might I add. If you have any insightful Star War knowledge, questions you want me to answer with my thoughts as I progress through the series or just want to congratulate me on losing my Star Wars virginity, please do so in the comments below.
And, May the 4th be with you!
